When it fires

The upstream chat model returned a 5xx, dropped the connection, or didn’t respond within the platform’s timeout. Any credits held for this request have been released — you’re not charged.

How to recover

Retry with exponential backoff (1s → 2s → 4s → 8s, max ~30s). With an Idempotency-Key on a non-streamed request, retries are safe. If the issue persists, check status.aurous-labs.com or reach support with the response request_id.
