When it fires
The platform’s own credential against the upstream model was rejected (revoked, expired, over-quota). This is a platform-side issue, not a problem with yourX-Api-Key. Pages on-call. Any held credits are released.
How to recover
Retry with backoff after a short delay. The customer-visible message stays vendor-neutral; the platform team is alerted automatically. Open a support ticket with therequest_id if the failure persists past a few minutes.
